About Me

Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I’m Elizabeth aka Wander Mum, mum of two daughters (eight and four years old), journalist, entrepreneur and travel junkie trying to prove you can still travel the world with children in tow.

I fell in love with travel in my early 20s when I backpacked around the world on my own. You name it, I did it, from bungee jumping and sky diving to zorbing and trekking. It enriched my life so much and I’ve had the travel bug ever since.

When children came along, I wanted them to see what the world has to offer and experience different cultures. We have travelled since both were babies. My youngest, ‘Cheeky’, had her first taste of travel when she was just six weeks old while our eldest, Mrs T was eight weeks old. They’ve travelled through much of Europe as well as Malaysia, Hong Kong, Dubai, Muscat, Bali, Singapore and the U.S. There’s plenty more on our travel list but that will have to wait until COVID restrictions lift. In the meantime, we have been enjoying UK travel and our local area in South West London.

Travelling has taken on a slightly different edge since having children. There are some more obstacles to overcome but it is all worth it. I strongly believe that travel is an education and I hope our experiences can help and inspire others planning trips away as a family.

An added obstacle to our travels, has been my husband’s health. He has had a series of complications which began with non Hodgkin lymphoma. Following chemotherapy, he has been clear of cancer but his immunity was seriously compromised leaving to some very serious incidents and near death experiences. Most recently, he had a stroke which has been a huge setback and halted some of our more daring adventures. It’s been a rollercoaster few years, for sure! A time that has taken great strength and a need for positivity and gratitude.

There is nothing like having a brush with a life threatening illness to make you look at life differently and savour every hour, day and moment you have with your family and friends.

Enjoy reading this blog as I document our travel with two children in tow and discover its challenges and rewards. Do get in touch if you have any questions.
