City Tripping #37

Two countries, 2,000 miles, two kids and 9 lodgings. We have just completed an epic road trip which has taken us from the cosmopolitan city of Lyon to the rustic Marche region of Italy, the historic villages of Provence and the mountains of the French Alps. It has been a diverse journey. It ended this weekend by getting a glimpse of the Tour de France followed by an afternoon in Burgundy sampling wines (and bringing numerous bottles home). Our first trip abroad as a family of four has given us many memories, a SIM card full of pictures and a few headaches but we got through it, coming out the other side with confidence that we can do it again (although not for a while).

I shall divulge more about the trip over the coming weeks and months. My head is full of blog post ideas, my camera packed with photos and videos and my iPad and phone contain my half-written scribblings. I have no idea when they will all get written and edited but I shall do my best as it was an educating experience.

We visited a number of cities along the way including the beautiful city of Avignon happening upon it during its performing arts festival. I am linking my photo-heavy post on the Avignon Festival for this week’s city tripping. Looking forward to reading all of your posts.

Thanks to everyone who linked up last week. We had so many excellent posts it was tough choosing our favourites but here are some we particularly enjoyed.

Discovering Hampstead, London – The Red Phone Box Travels
Pokemon Cafe, Singapore – Bumble Bee Mum
Festa di San Paolo, Sicily – There We Go Blog
The Sweetness of Sharing in Split, Croatia – Global Locavore

It is always fabulous to read all your lovely comments on my posts. This week I’ve had the pleasure of having a proper nosey at what you’ve all be saying about everyone else’s posts too as I’ve been working out our top commenter. This week’s very busy bee goes to… *drum roll*…RobRob at Travel Latte. Well done an epic count at 19! I am hosting this week’s City Tripping so please link up your posts below and don’t forget the #citytripping when you comment so we know where you have come from.

What Is City Tripping?

City Tripping is the place to come and link up your city-related travel posts. We want to find out the best of things to do and see in the city, any city in the world, whether you are travelling as a family, a couple or with friends or it’s your home turf. It could be a day out, a review of an attraction, long weekend or sharing your best insider info and hidden gems – as long as it is city-related travel.

How To Join In

– Link up one post – old or new.

– Please add the City Tripping badge to the bottom of the post or link back to either Mummytravels.com or Wandermum.co.uk – the badge code is below

– Posts must be about your travel experiences in a city – any city, from reviews of days out to longer breaks.

– Please share the linky love and comment on the two hosts’ linked posts and at least two others which take your fancy, using #citytripping so everyone knows where you’re visiting from

– Tweet us your links @wander_mum and @mummytravels along with the #citytripping hashtag and we will retweet to our followers

– We’ll be sharing your posts elsewhere on social media – we’d love it if you wanted to follow us there too: Wander Mum (TwitterFacebook, YouTubeInstagram and Pinterest) and MummyTravels (TwitterFacebookInstagram and Pinterest)

– The City Tripping linky will go live every Tuesday morning until 23.55pm on Thursday and will alternate between MummyTravels and myself. We’ll be sharing our favourites every week too.

I've always loved to travel so when my two daughters came along, I didn't stop. Travelling as a family can have its ups and downs but I love showing my children the world and helping others navigate travelling with children in tow.
