City Tripping #40

Summer seems to have finally arrived in the UK. Long, hot days and balmy nights is what August should be about and the past week we have been treated to just that. It has been so sunny I have spent the past three days in London parks having picnics! It is weather like this that reminds me of my childhood. For some reason I don’t recall the rainy days, just those sunny ones spent at the British seaside, something I’ve been looking at in a recent post.

But it’s been less of the seaside and more of the countryside this week as we went up north to see family in Yorkshire. I took my two girls to Cannon Hall farm in South Yorkshire where we saw piglets, Shire horses and were treated to some wonderful views.

Suddenly our road trip away to France and Italy last month seems a long time ago. I am reliving a small part of it for this week’s City Tripping by linking up my post on our brief trip to the gastronomic city of Lyon which didn’t go quite as well as we would have hoped. You can link up your posts over with Cathy at MummyTravels.

Thanks to everyone who joined in City Tripping last week. Our top picks are below – check them out if you haven’t already.
The Berlin Bears: My Meena Life
Nine reasons you should visit the Lisbon Oceanario: Suitcases and sandcastles
The 200-year-old hospital for dolls in Naples: La Brutta Figura
Florence: Away she went

As for our top commentator, well, this week, it was commentators! Yes, we have a tie. Both Bumble Bee Mum and California Globetrotter clocked up 16 comments each. Well done! Thanks so much to you both and everyone else for your support. Don’t forget the #citytripping tag when you comment (on the hosts’ posts and a minimum of two others please) so we know where you have come from.

As well as sharing and commenting on your posts, we will also be pinning them on our City Tripping Pinterest board so if you need any more city inspiration, be sure to check it out and follow our Pinterest board featuring past posts. Let me know if you would like an invite to pin on the board.

What Is City Tripping?

City Tripping is the place to come and link up your city-related travel posts. We want to find out the best of things to do and see in the city, any city in the world, whether you are travelling as a family, a couple or with friends or it’s your home turf. It could be a day out, a review of an attraction, long weekend or sharing your best insider info and hidden gems – as long as it is city-related travel.

How To Join In

– Link up one post – old or new. This week it is over with Cathy at MummyTravels

– Please add the City Tripping badge to the bottom of the post or link back to either Mummytravels.com or Wandermum.co.uk – the badge code is below

– Posts must be about your travel experiences in a city – any city, from reviews of days out to longer breaks.

– Please share the linky love and comment on the two hosts’ linked posts and at least two others which take your fancy, using #citytripping so everyone knows where you’re visiting from

– Every week we will give a mention to the blogger who has commented on the most posts linked up to City Tripping

– Tweet us your links @wander_mum and @mummytravels along with the #citytripping hashtag and we will retweet to our followers

– We’ll be sharing your posts elsewhere on social media – we’d love it if you wanted to follow us there too: Wander Mum (TwitterFacebook, YouTubeInstagram and Pinterest) and MummyTravels (TwitterFacebookInstagram and Pinterest)

– The City Tripping linky will go live every Tuesday morning until 23.55pm on Thursday and will alternate between MummyTravels and myself. We’ll be sharing our favourites every week too.

I've always loved to travel so when my two daughters came along, I didn't stop. Travelling as a family can have its ups and downs but I love showing my children the world and helping others navigate travelling with children in tow.

  1. You’re happy the hot summer days have arrived and here I am in the south US wishing that cooler fall days would get here! I’ve had enough of 90/100º weather! 🙁

Some of your favorite picks from #CityTripping this week were favorites of mine as well! Thanks, as always, for hosting. I always look forward to a new week of sharing and seeing new and exciting travel stories and adventures! 🙂
