Gruffalo LittleLife Day Pack Review

When going down to the deep dark wood (or in our case Surrey’s Wisley Gardens), it’s important to be prepared. As we embarked on an adventure trail around the grounds, Mrs T had her essentials stored in her Gruffalo LittleLife day pack. They consisted of a bottle, snack and camera.

Slung comfortably on her back, the Gruffalo’s face stared back at the public. With his terrible tusks and terrible teeth on display as well as the green poisonous wart at the end of his nose, it’s a good likeness of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s famous character. Rather than intimidating though, its soft fluffy face drew admiration from young and old alike. Looking at it, you can’t help but raise a smile. It’s cuddly to touch too.

At four years old Mrs T is a little old for the toddler pack but she enjoyed wearing it and carrying her possessions in it – making her feel rather grown up. The two-litre space inside fitted as much as she needed and there’s a label on the inside to write her name and address.

The day pack will come into its own in a few weeks time as our soon-to-be toddler takes her first unaided steps. We had a momentous moment while she was wearing the pack. She stood up, on her own, for longer than she has ever done before! A resounding success and demonstrates how the day pack helps with toddlers’ balance and confidence. She looked very pleased with herself!

Cheeky enjoyed wearing the pack too. It fitted her well with a buckle to secure it in place across the chest. It also has detachable reins. A far funkier way to keep toddlers from running off. No doubt they will be invaluable when Cheeky starts walking properly. A perfect accessory for travel when airports, shops and outdoor spaces become a little more challenging.

When the LittleLife pack arrived from outdoor clothing retailer Nevisport, Mrs T was very excited (as was I). She’s a big Gruffalo fan (she’s seen the stage show twice). Her verdict after wearing it?

“It was quite cool”, she said, before adding: “I liked it”. High praise from a four year old.

With such enthusiasm, I know the backpack has a number of years worth of wear for our youngest (currently 14 months). The only issue we may have is deciding who is going to wear it next time we venture into the deep dark wood. One thing is for sure, it’ll keep snakes, owls and foxes at bay.

Gruffalo LittleLife Day Pack costs £26.99. Other characters available include Spider-Man, Buzz Lightyear and Olaf as well as a range of other fun animals such as a bee, clown fish and bunny. Nevisport stocks a range of the LittleLife day packs.

*We were given the LittleLife Gruffalo day pack by Nevisport for the purpose of this review. All opinions are entirely my own (and that of my four year old).

Wander Mum

I've always loved to travel so when my two daughters came along, I didn't stop. Travelling as a family can have its ups and downs but I love showing my children the world and helping others navigate travelling with children in tow.
