Throwback Thursday: Thailand 2007

Today I am taking you back to October 2007 when my husband and I went to Asia for a two week trip. It was before we were married and hadno children so we packed a lot in…Bangkok, overnight train to Krabi then Koh Pi Pi and Phuket before going to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. It was Paul’s first visit to the region while I had spend time there six years previously while backpacking.

Back then my accommodation consisted of a 100 baht room without a window on Koh San Road. On this trip we had upgraded substantially to the Landmark hotel. It was a slightly different experience!

Thailand October 2007

While in Bangkok we saw all the cultural sights the Thai capital has to offer but I also had to show Paul where I spent my backpacking days and we took a trip down Koh San Road. It brought back lots of memories and looked far smarter than I remembered with some trendy bars and a nightclub (which we duly frequented). This is where the picture above was taken. Those of you who have been to Thailand may notice we are drinking the infamous ‘Thai bucket’. Popular with backpackers, this killer drink contains very strong Thai whiskey (usually SangSom) coca cola and red bull served with plenty of straws. You can understand why we are looking a little red. It’s guaranteed to make you go a bit loopy and certainly gives you a sore head the next day.

Wander Mum

I've always loved to travel so when my two daughters came along, I didn't stop. Travelling as a family can have its ups and downs but I love showing my children the world and helping others navigate travelling with children in tow.
